- General Ledger & Month-End Close: Core accounting tasks including reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting
- 10+ years Accounting / Bookkeeping experience
- Prefer Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- Ability to interpret and analyze financial statements and periodicals
- Fluency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

Responsibilities
- Job Costing: Deep understanding of job costing principles, including tracking costs by project, phase, or division
- Work-in-Progress (WIP) Reporting: Experience preparing and analyzing WIP schedules to report earned revenue versus costs
- Percentage of Completion Accounting: Familiarity with revenue recognition methods common in construction, especially long-term contracts
- Change Orders & Retainage: Managing accounting for contract changes and retainage amounts withheld by clients
- Regulatory and Compliance Understanding
- AIA Billing: Familiarity with American Institute of Architects billing formats
- Lien Waivers and Compliance Tracking: Ensuring contractors and subcontractors submit proper documentation
- Audit Readiness: Preparing financial documentation for internal, external, and regulatory audits
- Collaboration and Communication
- Cross-Functional Teamwork: Works closely with project managers, estimators, and field staff to ensure accurate financial tracking
- Client Communication: May interact with clients regarding invoicing, payment schedules, and contract clarifications
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Managing subcontractor payments, progress billings, and cash flow
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Project-level and company-level financial planning and variance analysis
Job description
We have an immediate need for an experienced Accountant/Bookkeeper with a heavy background in real estate development & commercial construction (accounting). This is a full-time, in-office position located in the Cypress area of Houston, TX. The ideal candidate with bring 10+ years Industrial Construction accounting experience with excellent organizational and communication skills.
Basic Knowledge:
