Position Title: Interior Decorator (Sales) – Window Treatments, Drapes & Re-Upholstery
Location: Mill End Shops Inc. (Multiple Store Locations)
Reports To: Store Manager / Sales Manager
Position Summary:
Mill End Shops Inc. is seeking a creative and sales-driven Interior Decorator to assist clients in selecting and purchasing custom window treatments, drapery, and re-upholstery services . The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for design, excellent customer service skills, and proven experience in sales. You will guide clients through the design process from concept to installation, helping them achieve their desired aesthetic while meeting sales targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Consultation:
Conduct in-store, in-home, and virtual consultations to understand client needs, style preferences, and functional requirements.
Recommend design solutions including fabric selections, window treatment styles, hardware, trims, and upholstery options.
Sales & Revenue Generation:
Promote and sell custom drapery, blinds, shades, shutters, window hardware, and re-upholstery services .
Meet or exceed individual and store sales targets.
Upsell complementary products and services to maximize revenue per project.
Project Management:
Prepare detailed design proposals, quotes, and invoices.
Coordinate with workrooms, vendors, and installers to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
Follow up with clients throughout the project lifecycle to ensure satisfaction and manage expectations.
Product Knowledge & Training:
Maintain in-depth knowledge of fabric lines, window treatment mechanisms, upholstery techniques, and current design trends.
Attend product training sessions and vendor presentations as required.
Customer Relationship Management:
Build long-term relationships with clients to drive repeat business and referrals.
Maintain accurate client records in the company CRM system.
Showroom Presentation:
Assist in maintaining an attractive and well-organized showroom.
Update product displays to reflect seasonal trends and promotions.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in interior decorating, window treatments, or home furnishings sales .
Strong design sense with an ability to translate customer needs into practical and stylish solutions.
Excellent sales and closing skills with a customer-first mindset.
Familiarity with fabrics, window treatment types, upholstery services , and installation processes.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail.
Knowledge of QuickBooks, POS systems, or CRM tools is a plus.
Flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends as required.
Compensation:
Base salary + commission based on sales performance.
