Job Description
- Under the general supervision of the Director of the Laboratory, the Medical Technologist performs a variety of routine and complex laboratory tests on body fluids and substances, requiring independent judgment, with speed and accuracy. The efforts of the individual(s) in this position, in collaboration with other health care professionals, provide data for the most accurate diagnosis or individual treatment of diseases for optimum patient outcomes.
- Performs routine and complex medical laboratory tests, procedures and analyses.
- Ensures that all laboratory tests are performed in accordance with established standards
- Maintains the use of automated and computerized instruments including recognition of instrument malfunction and resolution with appropriate corrective actions.
- Evaluates results of Quality Control procedures and implements corrective action when indicated.
- Evaluates the validity of test results; understands clinical implications; notifies primary caregiver of critical test results.
- Documents and maintains the appropriate records required by the hospital and laboratory accrediting agencies.
- Develops and maintains current procedure and policy manuals based upon defined accrediting agency standards.

Minimum Education
* Must have an Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with MT certification (ASCP, AMT or AAB).
Minimum Experience
* Prefer a minimum of 2 years hospital or clinic experience.
Required Licensure/Certifications
* Certification required (ASCP, AMT or AAB) or eligible to take exam.
MT
Minimum Education
* Must have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science. Must have obtained certification while pursuing the degree (ASCP, AMT or AAB).
Minimum Experience
* Prefer a minimum of 2 years hospital or clinic experience.
